Big dogs can get hot fast, and I like that this cooling mat keeps things simple—no water, electricity, batteries or refrigeration needed. The pressure-activated gel starts cooling when your dog lies on it, making it an easy option for our hot SC days or just for the giant-breed dog who believes the thermostat should permanently be set to “Arctic.”

This is a great option for dogs who like a little extra support around them when they sleep. We liked the cushioned sleeping surface and raised sides—and before taking over our bed, Waylon had plenty of room to get comfortable without looking like he'd been stuffed into a dog bed two sizes too small.
Giant Paws Tip: Check the inside sleeping dimensions, not just the overall dimensions. Those bolsters take up some valuable giant-dog real estate.

When they say giant breed, they mean it. This is the crate we bought for Waylon, and at 54 inches, it gives our Great Dane the room he needs to stand up, turn around and stretch out comfortably. The double doors make placement easier, and the removable tray is a lifesaver for cleanup.
Yes, it's an investment—I had apparently blocked out just how much of one! But finding a crate that's genuinely made for a giant-breed dog isn't easy, and this one has worked well for us.
